I’m not sure why we haven’t seen more about West Virginia in the RV community. One can find many campground options on tripwizard.rvlife.com and rv apps such as the Dyrt or Campendium. Its a beautiful state and an excellent option for the outdoorsy and adventurous folks offering many hidden treasures, one of them being Little Beaver State Park.

A drive through winding and hilly roads shaded by mature trees and lined with interesting white magnolia-like flowering shrubs leads you to the park entrance which displays in the backdrop of a ranger station, a large river flowing over man made steps down into a stream. Signs direct you through a magical forest of Fraser Fir, Mountain Ash and Red Oak trees dominating over mosses and large ferns to the campground check in store. The store offers snacks, drinks, ice cream, souvenirs and small RV accessories along with firewood. The roads, sites and grounds are very well maintained. The bathrooms and showers were better than most I have seen and there is one washer and drier available. Some sites are separated by trees and vegetation while others are more out in the open but all are far enough apart for good privacy. Loop 1 offers electric while loop 2 contains non-electric sites. No sewer connections offered but a Dump Station is available. The weather in July was wonderful; mostly in the 80s Fahrenheit range. We spent spent many evenings sitting out watching displays of flickering light shows put on by abundant fire-flies. Rita and I enjoyed a few short explorations of the wooded trail right off of our campsite. Walks around loop 1 were enjoyable due to the tree and fern filled median and forested sites providing plenty of shade and interesting scents for our black furry four-legged friend Rita.
If you are more adventurous and in need of something to do other than hikes and walks New River Gorge National Park is nearby encompassing 53 miles of the river and its accompanying gorge where there are many river rafting options. New and Gauley River Adventures in Lansing Wv. is approximately 45 minutes away. New River Gorge ATV adventure tour is near Fayetteville if you would rather stick to land. Angler fishing and kayaking are doable at Little Beaver State Park if you prefer to stick closer to camp. Shopping can be a little bit of a drive so stocking up may be a good idea. Even so this was a great place! This one is definitely going on the favorites page!
